In the Spotlight: Melly Faith

I've heard of Melly Faith, who is an Oklahoman who performs in SecondLife, and have seen notices for her shows for some time, but I got my first opportunity to hear her at a charity event where we played back to back. She was a pleasure to listen to, and I caught up with her recently while we were both listening to music at Duval Street Pub.

MDS: What are some of your earliest memories of music in your life?

MF: I was 3,

She is stronger than she thinks most days, and when she cries in the middle of a song because the words she is singing are spilling out from her soul and not her vocal cords... its the most beautiful thing I have ever heard ***Kaitlyn Pruitt***

singing the wrong lyrics to Boot Scootin' Boogie on the way home from the lake.

MDS: Who were the performers or songs that you remember most vividly loving to listen to when you were in your youth?

MF: Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts, Shania Twain

MDS: Who are some of your favorite performers in SecondLife?

MF: I love Princess Cori, she's just so fun during her shows and energetic. I also love Ry Anne, Her voice is just so pretty. Savannah Rain, I love her too she is so grounded and is just amazing at what she does.

MDS: These days, who are some of the performers in Real life you enjoy listening to?

MF: I love Camila Cabello, Carrie Underwood, Lauren Alaina, Maren Morris.

MDS: How old were you when you first began to sing, and what inspired you to begin?

MF: I remember first singing when i was 3, and i just loved doing it, it was so therapeutic even when i was that little

MDS: Who would you say your musical influences were?

MF: My mom, she really loves music as much as i do. We always sang together, and still do.

MDS: How would you describe your own musical "style"? What kind of music do you perform and/or enjoy performing most?

MF: I'd say country/pop. I love both genres a lot.

MDS: As a performer, what is it that you feel you gain from performing? What makes it worth the effort?

MF: I tell myself before every show, "If I can make one person smile during my show, I've done my job." and i truly believe that. It's not about the money or the amount of people there for me. Its just about the smile i can put on someone's face. That's what makes me want to do this and continue doing it.

MDS: What's the biggest challenge of performing for you?

MF: Talking, lol. I can sing all day long, but when it comes to in between songs, i struggle a lot.

MDS: Thank you, Melly, for participating in our spotlight!

I also talked to Kaitlyn Pruitt, who is a personal friend of Melly's as well as one of her managers. She had this to say: "As one of her managers and her wifey ( best friend ) I am totally biased and I really don't care because I would love her even if I wasn't. I have watched her grow over the past year and she is a million miles away from where she started. I have seen her confidence grow, get knocked down and come back up again stronger. I have seen the things that knock her down, and the demons that tell her it's not worth it, and she fights harder, and works harder to overcome whatever comes at her. She is stronger than she thinks most days, and when she cries in the middle of a song because the words she is singing are spilling out from her soul and not her vocal cords... its the most beautiful thing I have ever heard."
