In the Spotlight: Star
Today we shine the spotlight on Star, and learn a little about her musical background and interests.
Star lives in the mountain time zone in the U.S. I met her in SecondLife, and see her often at my SecondLife shows, as well as those for other performers, and she responded to my request for let me 'interview' people about their musical interests for Music is Passion! Thank you Star!

MDS: What are some of your earliest memories of music in your life?
Star: My earliest memories of music are the songs my parents would sing to us to get us to go to bed.
Not the normal lullabies, the one I recall first is, "We shall overcome."
MDS: Who were the performers or songs that you remember most vividly loving to listen to when you were in your youth?
Star: I grew up listening to classical, country, rock and swing. Beatles are strong in my memory, next would be Olivia Newton John. Later came Bon Jovi, Poison, and Kiss. Then I headed back to classical and finally country again. All the while listening to the crooners like Dean and Frank.
MDS: Were there any memorable live music events you attended?
Star: As far as concerts, I have been to so many through the years. BB King, Paul McCartney, Jimmy Buffet, Van Morrison, Chris Ledoux, Bon Jovi, Carol King and James Taylor and Preservation Hall performance in New Orleans are my top most memorable.
MDS: These days, who are some of the performers/songs you enjoy listening to and what is it about them you like?
Star: These days I still listen to the old stuff I grew up with and only a little bit of the new. Depends on the day and the mood I am in. Any classic rock song will have me forgetting what life dealt me that day. I choose feel good music mostly. Adele if I am in a sing at the top of my lungs with no one around. Beatles if I need a happy moment.
MDS: Who are some of your favorite performers in SecondLife?
Star: SecondLife Performers, I honestly didn't hear many when I first started SecondLife, but for the last 4 years I have gotten to know several that are excellent. SingerGirl Mode, she was the first one that got me to look around for musicians, she learned a song at a request for me and since then everything is wonderful to hear. Djembe, was one of the next, I enjoy everything he sings, but the Disney stuff is fun, though he can belt out a great operatic. Blueboi, always a fun time, his blues is just down right good. Gabriel da Silva, an energetic and rocking good time, he has a piano set that I adore, though he doesn't do it much, maybe because he rocks the classic rock so well too. Of course, Marqs, you sing just about anything and my day gets better. Of course I love the originals that everyone sings. There are so many wonderful performers out there, you just have to listen.
MDS: Have you attended a concert or live music performance recently? If so, who/what kind of music/what kind of venue.. and how would you rate it.. and why?
Star: The last concert I attended was Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, swing band. It was wonderful and energetic. It was an outdoor concert and it rained a little so it would get a 8 for a score, but not due to the musicians themselves.
MDS: Lastly, if you were a performer what is something you would do differently than most of the performers you hear/see?
Star: I am not a musician, I was an audio tech for a while though and know what I like to hear when I sit and listen to music.
Thank you, Star, for taking the time to share your thoughts!
