We're living in some unique, ever-changing, sometimes-scary times. As the world around us tries to find ways to deal with the world-wide pandemic, and many of us live more or
less in self-imposed quarantine, practicing 'social distancing' (was that a term before?), perhaps not working, or working from home, we can binge watch Netflix, or organize that junk room that's been waiting for sooooo long for some attention. OR.
We can write a song.. or two or three... Crisis situations have often been the seedbeds of creativity, and there's no reason this one couldn't spark some visits from the muse
(providing she doesn't need any TP!), and generate some new songs. No, the songs don't have to be ABOUT the crisis, but this time may give you opportunity to take the time that might normally be spent doing more 'normal' things you do, and devote some of it to creating a new song.
Here's a little incentive. From now til March 31, Music is Passion has a songwriting contest going on. This is about lyrics, not performance, so you don't have to be a singer or even have a melody for the song. But you do have to have lyrics. The rules are very simple:
1. These must be your own lyrics, and they should be NEW (something you've written during this period).
2. One submission per person.
3. Submit your song lyrics BEFORE April 1, 2020 - use the form below.
I will get other people to assist in determining a winner, and the winner will be announced here, on Music is Passion blog, by April 15, 2020.
The winner will receive a $50 gift card to Amazon! In addition, all submissions will be published in the blog. For those who are lyricists and would like to have their lyrics put to music, I will work with them to create a musical interpretation of their lyrics.
So, get your songwriting caps on, and get writing! Remember, your submissions must be sent BEFORE April 1, 2020 to be eligible for the contest!
